Land Acknowledgment for the Ute Nation

I honor the original inhabitants of the land on which I live and work: The Shining Mountains, also known as the Rocky Mountains. This sacred land, near Tava Kaa-vi or “Sun Mountain” (commonly known as Pikes Peak), has long been held by the Ute Nation, whose traditions, language, and deep connection to nature remain vibrant today. This acknowledgment reflects my gratitude and my commitment to respecting their enduring heritage.

Honoring the Ute Nation and Their Sacred Land

A long time ago, a nation of people who called themselves Nünt’z lived in a region they named “The Shining Mountains.” Today, we recognize them as the Ute Nation, who occupied what is now Colorado, including the vast Rocky Mountains. These lands, abundant with life and sacred significance, hold the stories, wisdom, and culture of the Tabeguache or “People of Sun Mountain,” a band of the Ute Nation.

Tava Kaa-vi, or Sun Mountain, holds special meaning. It was named long before being renamed Pikes Peak, after a man who never summited its great heights. This sacred peak is central to the Ute People’s identity and spiritual practices, and its presence inspires all who come to know its beauty.

A Commitment to Gratitude and Respect

This nation’s history is built upon exclusions and erasures of Indigenous Peoples, yet the land continues to hold their traditions and stories. I humbly acknowledge the original stewards of this sacred space and honor their legacy by actively working to dismantle ongoing oppression and inequities.

Through this acknowledgment, I express my respect and gratitude for the Ute People and their cultural heritage. Their profound wisdom and connection to nature guide and inspire my work. I am committed to learning, honoring, and protecting this land and the knowledge it carries.

Recognizing the
Prophecies of the Q’ero

As part of my practice, I also embrace and honor the wisdom of the Q’ero people, the last descendants of the Inca. Their teachings of love, compassion, and balance complement the Indigenous wisdom of the Ute Nation, creating a unified vision for honoring the Earth and all her inhabitants.

Living the Land Acknowledgment

For me, this acknowledgment is more than words. It serves as a guiding principle for how I live and work. I incorporate the values of respect, gratitude, and humility into every healing session, and I seek to uplift Indigenous voices and traditions.

My work reflects the sacredness of the land and its role in supporting spiritual and energetic healing. As I honor these truths, I continue to deepen my commitment to the Earth and its original stewards.
